National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established in 1921 to recognize outstanding high school students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. NHS membership at Lakeview High School is open to students having a cumulative career GPA of 3.5 or above.
Sophomores, juniors and seniors who meet this criterion will be notified of their elibibility in September of a given school year and asked to perform five hours of community service during the fall months. Eligible students will then be sent an official NHS application in January of a given school year. Students must submit the completed application and letters of recommendations to Dr. Lincoln. Candidates will be selected for NHS membership by an NHS Faculty Council and through evaluations supplied by Lakeview High School teaching staff. An Induction ceremony is held annually in March. For 2020-21, this timetable was modified to allow NHS to continue to function successfully at LHS in a virtual format.
Lakeview High School was pleased to learn that in 2018, Dr. Lincoln was the recipient of the Rynearson National Honor Society Advisor of the Year Award.
