Centennial Celebration to showcase district history, student and alumni talent

Lakeview School District will celebrate 100 years of Spartan pride at a community open house and performance showcase on Saturday, May 7th. Students, staff, alumni, families, retirees and community members are invited to join the festivities which will take place that afternoon from 1-5 pm at Lakeview Middle School, 300 S 28th Street.

A highlight of the celebration, for the first time in 20 years, the district’s historical archives will be made available to the public. Dating back to the early 1920’s, the archives include memorabilia, news articles, yearbooks, photographs and more. Guests will also have the opportunity to view videos of alumni interviews and yearbook highlights.

Guests will get a glimpse of teaching and learning today through displays of student work and interactions with various high school student clubs. The LHS robotics team will be on hand to demonstrate their T-shirt launching robot which will throw centennial t-shirts.

Another highlight of the afternoon will be a performance showcase, starring current students and alumni. The Spartanaires, LHS Jazz Band and the Lakeview Spartan Singers are sure to bring back memories for many. The LHS Step Team and Dance Team will keep the crowd on their feet.
