It is important that employees maintain up-to-date personal contact and emergency contact information within Skyward Employee Access at all times.  Any changes in address should be reported to the Finance Office using the Change of Address form.

It is the expectation of the Lakeview School District to maintain learning and working environments that are free from harassment or bullying.  Harassment or bullying, like other disruptive or violent behaviors, is conduct that disrupts a student’s ability to learn, an employee’s ability to work, and ultimately, a school’s ability to educate its students in a safe environment.  Demonstration of appropriate behavior treating others with civility and respect, and refusing to tolerate harassment or bullying is expected of administrators, faculty, and staff to provide examples for student behavior.

Employees are required to account for their absences via Employee Access.  Vacation (if applicable) and personal business days are to be submitted and approved prior to the date of leave.  Sick leave is to be submitted on the date of absence or as soon as possible thereafter.  An email notification is sent when time off requests are approved or denied. 

Teachers who are absent for any reason are to request a substitute teacher.

All leaves of absence, whether paid or unpaid, must be requested in writing to the Human Resources office and for those employees who work within the context of a collective bargaining agreement, consistent with the language in the specific employee’s master agreement.  It is the responsibility of the employee to keep the Human Resources office apprised of contact information (address and phone number) while the employee is on a leave of absence.  Failure for follow conditions for leaves of absence outlined in collective bargaining agreements or failure to report back to work on the first day after expiration of the leave of absence will be considered a voluntary termination of employment.

Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
FMLA requires Lakeview School District to provide up to 12 weeks of unpaid job-protected leave to eligible employees for certain family and medical reasons.  Employees are eligible if they have worked for Lakeview School District for at least one year and for 1, 250 hours over the previous 12 months.  The method used for calculations is a “rolling” 12-month period measured backward from the date an employee uses any FMLA leave.  Employees may choose to use any available sick and/or personal time concurrently with FMLA leave.  The FMLA leave begins on the employee’s first day off work.  Employees are required to notify Human Resources if they will be absent for more than three full consecutive days in order for a determination to be made as to whether the absence qualifies under the FMLA.  The complete FMLA regulations are located in all buildings.

Using Skyward Employee Access, employees may access their payroll information including check history, check estimator, a year-to-date calendar and year-to-date fiscal information, W2 and W4 information.

Skyward Employee Access is the District’s employee management system.  The system provides staff 24 hour access to payroll and human resources information from any computer with internet access.

It is a teacher’s responsibility to keep his or her certification up to date.  Teachers who allow their certificates to expire forfeit all tenure rights.  Information regarding teacher certification is available on the Michigan Department of Education website.

All employees shall receive annual training which is available online. All trainings must be completed by September 30 of each year.

Login by entering your username, which follows the following format: first initial followed by last name.  EXAMPLE: John Smith - Username: jsmith  (Note:  Your Username should be the same name as your Network ID)

Assigned course or courses will be listed under “Mandatory Training.” Select any course by simply clicking on the name of the course.  The courses have audio, so turn up your speakers to hear the narration.  

Complete all the training scenarios and the assessments to receive credit for each course.  You will have the option to print out a Certification of Completion once you complete the course.

Employees should immediately report all injuries to a supervisor. If medical treatment is needed, the employee must obtain an Authorization for Treatment and Injury Report form and have it signed by a supervisor or authorized person. The Authorization for Treatment form goes to Business Health Services and the injury report should be sent to HRS. All injuries must be reported to the Human Resources office within three days of an accident.
