Teaching Philosophy: “Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation"
- Lao Tzu
I adamantly believe that there are two important sides to education. One is to prepare students in their learning of the course material in order to help them achieve their future educational goals. Another is to help students to become more introspective in defining their own beliefs. This often means that questions are as important, if not more important, than answers. I feel students learn at a deeper level if they engage more in a class by asking questions either to me or themselves.
Biographical Information:
I have a long history at LHS. My father moved here in 1970 as the assistant principal, my mother was later hired as an English teacher, and I am a former graduate of LHS. This is is my 15th year teaching here and 18th year of teaching overall. I prepared for teaching by attending Western Michigan University, where I received my Bachelors in Education with a major in English and a minor in Communications. I also received my Masters in Educational Leadership from Western. Although I have taught several different English courses here, I will be teaching English 5 and Advanced Placement English 6 this year.
