    About me:

!Hola!  Welcome back.  I hope you're as ready as I am to rock out a new school year!  This is my eleventh year here at Lakeview High School where I teach Spanish 1 and 2 as well as Environmental Science.   I grew up in Northern Michigan where my large family and I spent a lot of time outdoors hiking, boating, camping, biking etc.  In April of 2005, I graduated from Western Michigan University with Bachelor of Arts in Education and certifications in Spanish and Environmental Studies along with a Busines minor.  Two months later, I got engaged in Rome Italy where my husband's family is from.  In my free time I enjoy playing with my dog Marli whose picture is at the bottom of this page.  She is a very sweet Goldendoodle. One of my favorite things is to do is spend time with my kids Jonah (5), Naelina (3) and Jude (4 months).  They keep me busy!

One of my most beloved things to do is travel.  A few years ago, I went to Paris, France to attend international conferences and seminars addressing hands on curriculum experiences around the globe.  I loved Paris, but I missed Spanish!  During spring break of 2009, I took several students to experience the rich culture and biodiversity of Costa Rica. In the summer of 2013 I took students for another study abroad trip to Spain and Italy.   In 2013 I also traveled to Roatan, a BEAUTIFUL island off the coast of Honduras to do research and collect data for my Master's thesis.  In December of 2013 I graduate with my masters degree in Geography where my studies were focused on how the coral reefs surrounding the island are impacted by people, geography and climate in that region.  I got to fulfill one of my life long dreams - to swim with dolphins.  I LOVED being able to use my Spanish to work with a Honduran Marine Biologist/ Dolphin Zoologist with the longest running data collection on coral reef condition change in the world!

Other than school, family, the outdoors, and traveling, I also enjoy sports.  I've played them my whole life and I love to coach them!  I have coached the 7th grade A team at Lakeview Middle School for the previous 10 years, but took this year off to have more time with my growing family. One of my other passions is music.  I enjoy traveling around to different cities to go to live shows with my husband!
