National Junior Honor Society
-
Grades: 7-8 Meeting Day: 2nd Tuesday of each month
National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929. NJHS membership at Lakeview Middle School is open to students having a cumulative career GPA of 3.5 or above. Seventh and eighth graders who meet this criterion will be notified of their eligibility after trimester 1 grades have been finalzied. Eligible students will then be sent an official NJHS application in December of the given school year. Students must submit the completed application to the NJHS advisor. Candidates will be selected for NJHS membership by an NJHS Faculty Council and through evaluations supplied by Lakeview Middle School teaching staff. An Induction ceremony is held annually in February.
