National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929. NJHS membership at Lakeview Middle School is open to students having a cumulative career GPA of 3.5 or above. Seventh and eighth graders who meet this criterion will be notified of their elibibility in September of a given school year and asked to perform five hours of community service during the fall months. Eligible students will then be sent an official NHS application in January of a given school year. Students must submit the completed application and letters of recommendations to Erik Johnson. Candidates will be selected for NJHS membership by an NJHS Faculty Council and through evaluations supplied by Lakeview Middle School teaching staff. An Induction ceremony is held annually in March.
