2000 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

  • Bob "Sticks" Bolten, Class of 1956
    Basketball: Career scoring and single season scoring records for Lakeview High School. Scored 50 points in MHSAA quarterfinal game - still an MHSAA state record. Lettered four years, led in rebounding and named 1st Team All-Mid American Conference at Western Michigan University in 1961. Considered one of the University's all-time great players.

    Charlie Burnham, Class of 1969
    Wrestling, Golf, Football: Eight varsity letters. State Championship Golf Team in 1968. Top five individually in State Golf Competition. Conference champion wrestler at 138 and 145 pounds. All-Conference, All-State and MVP in football. University of Michigan Golf Team Captain and MVP in 1973. Battle Creek Enquirer Athlete of the Year in 1969. Lakeview School District Distinguished Alumni in 2005.

    Jackie Campbell, Class of 1983
    Basketball, Volleyball: Nine varsity letters. Volleyball standout - three years All-Conference, 1st Team All-State and 1982 captain and MVP of State Championship Team. Basketball - three years All-Conference, Conference and MVP. University of Texas Volleyball, All-SW Conference, NCAA Final Four. LHS Female Athlete of the Year in 1983.

    Alan Gibbs, Class of 1960
    Football, Basketball, Baseball: All-Conference in football, basketball, baseball. 1st Team All-State in football. Set school record for most touchdowns in a single season. Battle Creek Enquirer Athlete of the Year in1959. Western Michigan University Football Captain in 1963. All-MAC football in 1963. WMU's Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1964.

    Wendy Ingraham, Class of 1982
    Swimming: Set six school records, two state records and won two state championships in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle. All-American in both events. All-Big Ten, Big Ten Champion, NCAA All-American and team Captain at Michigan State in freestyle events. World-class triathlete. Six-time, top ten finisher in the Hawaiian Ironman.

    Football, Basketball, Baseball: Eleven varsity letters. All-State, All-American, football, 1955. 1956 Final Four basketball team. Olivet football, baseball, track. Ferris State football - team captain and MVP, 1959.

    Gary Morrison, Class of 1952
    Basketball, Baseball. Outstanding City and Conference basketball player. 1st Team All-Conference Baseball. All-MIAA, team captain and leading scorer for Kalamazoo College Basketball. Outstanding and long-time basketball, baseball and golf coach at Olivet College.

    Joe Parker, Class of 1983
    Swimming: five times State Champion and All-American at LHS in the sprint freestyle. Won nine conference championships. LHS Athlete of the Year, 1983. Team Captain, Big Ten Champion, NCAA-All American in freestyle events at the University of Michigan. Set two University records and set a world record while at Michigan. Gold Medal Winner at the 1987 World Games.

    Linda Popovich, Class of 1986
    Volleyball, Basketball: 1st Team All-State Volleyball for three years. All-Conference Basketball, All MAC Volleyball for four years at Bowling Green University. MAC Conference Player of the Year, 1989. NCAA Top Female Student Athlete, 1990. Three-time NCAA Academic All-American. LHS Female Scholar Athlete, 1985.

    Shelly Russell, Class of 1985
    Swimming: City, Conference and State Champion in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle events. Eight-time NCAA National Champion, national record holder, and two-time NCAA Swimmer of the Year at Hope College in distance freestyle events. National and World Master's Champion 1996 and 1998. LHS Female Athlete of the Year, 1985.

    Kevin Tribbett, Class of 1979
    Track, Cross Country, Basketball: City and Conference Champion in Cross Country. All-State Cross Country. Captain and MVP. Athlete and Scholar Athlete of the Year, 1979. Won seven letters in Track and Cross Country at Purdue University serving as team captain. Was in the Top Eight all four years in the Big Ten Steeple Chase.
