TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Technology offerings address multiple purposes:

1.      The introductory classes utilize hands-on activities, which build confidence in the areas of technology.  These experiences will help you make better career pathway decisions regarding post-secondary options.

2.      If you choose a college career pathway of engineering/ technical prep or trade and industrial prep, then these classes allow you to begin to concentrate in one of the two broad areas of Technology: Physical Technology or Information Technology.

HSMT100 MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY 1 (an introduction class)

Credit: 1.0

Gr.: 9-12

Prerequisite: None

In this class students will use tools and machinery to create a series of unique and useable projects.  Torches, lathes, drills, and a sandblaster are among the machines that students will use to change steel, sheet metal, wood, and other material into finished products.  This class is very active and will challenge a student’s ability to create things with their hands.

Gr.: 10-12

Prerequisite: Production Technology 2

“I can build that.” You will be able to say this about any piece of furniture by the end of this class. Your creative genius can go nuts because you now have the skills and experience to design and build anything you can imagine. It’s awesome to be able to say “I built that hutch, I built that night stand, I built that _______” (fill in your project). This class is repeatable for credit. (This means you can build a whole house full of furniture).
